    King Alfonso VI (The Victorious)

    Twenty-third King of Portugal, nicknamed "The Victorious". During his turbulent reign, marked by the leadership of the Count of Castelo Melhor, Portugal achieved decisive military victories in the Restoration War, securing national independence from Spain. He was removed from power in 1667 by his brother, the future King Pedro II. He died on September 12, 1683, at the age of 40, in the Royal Palace of Sintra.
