Stanley B. Prusiner

Stanley B. Prusiner (b. 1942) is an American neurologist and biochemist awarded the 1997 Nobel Prize in Medicine. His discovery of prions as an entirely new biological principle of infection revolutionized medicine by proving the existence of infectious agents composed solely of proteins, lacking a genome.
