Reorganization of the National Archive of Torre do Tombo

On March 18, 1911, a decree of the newly established Republic officially restructured the historic institution founded in the 14th century, giving it the definitive designation of National Archive of Torre do Tombo and modernizing the preservation of the vast Portuguese documentary heritage with a strong vocation for public service.
