Promulgation of the Lei Mental

King Duarte promulgates the Lei Mental (Mental Law), a fundamental legislative diploma in the structuring and centralization of the kingdom of Portugal. This law strictly established that lands and assets donated by the Crown could only be inherited by the eldest legitimate male son, reverting to the State's possession in his absence.
