First spacewalk in history (Alexei Leonov)

On March 18, 1965, Soviet cosmonaut Alexei Leonov performed the first extravehicular activity (EVA) in human history. Connected only by a tether to the Voskhod 2 capsule, he floated in the vacuum of space for about 12 minutes, a monumental feat of courage and engineering that opened a new chapter in the exploration of the cosmos.
