Leonhard Euler

Leonhard Euler (born April 15, 1707, and died September 17, 1783) was a prodigious Swiss mathematician and physicist. He is considered one of the founders of pure mathematics, having formulated relations of unparalleled beauty, such as the famous Euler's identity ($e^{i\pi} + 1 = 0$), and revolutionized calculus, geometry, and mechanics.
