Joseph Lister

Joseph Lister (born April 5, 1827, and died February 10, 1912) was a brilliant British surgeon and the founder of antiseptic medicine. By introducing carbolic acid to sterilize wounds and operating rooms, he drastically reduced mortality rates and revolutionized global surgical practice.
