Johannes Stark

Johannes Stark (born April 15, 1874, and died June 21, 1957) was a German physicist. He won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1919 for discovering that an electric field causes the splitting of lines in the light spectrum emitted by a luminous substance, a phenomenon known today as the "Stark Effect".
