João Ribas

João Manuel Ribas de Almeida, Portuguese musician, vocalist and founder of the punk rock band Tara Perdida. One of the most emblematic figures of punk rock in Portugal, he was notable for his energy on stage and intervening lyrics. He began his career with Klandestinos, but it was with Tara Perdida, founded in 1995, that he achieved greater recognition. Over two decades, the band released several albums and became a reference in the Portuguese alternative music scene. In addition to music, he was also an active supporter of animal rights. He passed away in Lisbon on March 23, 2014, aged 48, a victim of cancer.
