John of God

João de Deus Ramos (born March 8, 1830, and died January 11, 1896) was an eminent Portuguese poet and educator. Author of the "Cartilha Maternal" teaching method and important poetic works such as "Campo de Flores", he revolutionized literacy in Portugal and left a unique legacy in national education and literature.
