On April 2, 1942, the Júlio de Matos Hospital was inaugurated in Lisbon, a pioneering institution for psychiatric treatment in Portugal. Named after the notable psychiatrist, the hospital housed the work of internationally renowned specialists, including Nobel laureate Egas Moniz.
