Inauguration of Flores Airport

Today we celebrate the inauguration of Flores Airport, on the island of Flores, on September 1, 1972. IATA code: FLW. With a 1,400 meter runway, the airport is located approximately 1 km from the center of the village of Santa Cruz. It receives approximately 50,000 passengers per year. It is essential for the accessibility of the island, which is the westernmost of the Azores archipelago, and serves both regular flights and search and rescue operations.
