Emperor Naruhito

Symbol of the unity of the State and the Japanese people, Emperor Naruhito (b. 1960) began the Reiwa Era (Beautiful Harmony) in 2019. The first emperor to study abroad (Oxford), he is a dedicated historian and water resource management expert, focusing his role on the subtle modernization of the monarchy and global environmental causes.
