Herbert Spencer

Herbert Spencer (born April 27, 1820, and died December 8, 1903) was a prominent English philosopher and sociologist. A pioneering defender of evolutionary theory in the social sciences, he coined the famous phrase "survival of the fittest" and applied Darwinian concepts to the development of human societies.
