Hanamatsuri (Buddha's Birthday)

In the Japanese Buddhist tradition, Hanamatsuri or the "Flower Festival" celebrates the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha. Held annually on April 8, the festivity is marked by bathing small Buddha statues with sweet tea (amacha) in elaborately decorated temples.
