Military Coup of May 28 (1926 Revolution)

A military uprising breaks out in Braga under the command of General Gomes da Costa, dictating the fall of the unstable Portuguese First Republic. The coup movement would march on Lisbon days later, establishing a Military Dictatorship that suspended constitutional freedoms and paved the political way for the Estado Novo.
