Ding Xuexiang

Ding Xuexiang (b. 1962) is the Executive Vice Premier and represents the new generation of technocrats at the top of power. An engineer by training, he served for years as Xi Jinping’s influential chief of staff and "shadow." He is currently primary official in charge of innovation, science, and technology strategy, areas critical to Chinese sovereignty.
