World Industrial Workers Day

World Industrial Workers Day honors industrial workers for their essential contribution to society, through the goods they produce. The date coincides with the founding, in 1905, of the Industrial Workers of the World, an international union based in Chicago, which defends the rights of industrial workers around the world. Among its famous members are Noam Chomsky (linguist, philosopher, cognitive scientist, historian, social activist), Helen Keller (American author, activist and speaker) and Tom Morello (guitarist Rage Against Machine and Audioslave).
