St. John of Damascus Day

Tradition marks the memory of St. John of Damascus, a venerated theologian and Doctor of the Church (whose feast in the old calendar was celebrated on March 27). His liturgical work was fundamental in defending the veneration of icons during the iconoclastic period of the Byzantine Empire.
