Women's Day Off - Women-s Day Off

Islândia

On October 24, 1975, 90% of women in Iceland participated in a general strike to demand gender equality. Working women stayed home and those who worked at home refused to cook, clean and look after children. This event was a milestone in the fight for women's rights and contributed to Iceland becoming one of the countries with the lowest gender inequality in the world. The fight for equal pay and rights continues today, with Icelandic women earning around 85% of men's salaries.
