Ada Lovelace Day

Ada Lovelace Day is celebrated annually on the second Tuesday of October, with the aim of promoting and raising awareness of the valuable contributions of women in the fields of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). The event honors Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, a visionary mathematician and pioneer of computer science in the United Kingdom, who was the first to recognize that machines could be used beyond mathematical calculation. The celebration began in 2009 as a “blogging day” and has since evolved into a multinational event, marked by conferences and initiatives dedicated to promoting female participation in the technological world.
