Discovery of the planet Uranus

On March 13, 1781, British astronomer William Herschel first observed Uranus, initially thinking it was a comet. This monumental observation expanded the boundaries of the known solar system for the first time in modern history, confirming the existence of the seventh planet, whose name was universally adopted in 1850.
