Discovery of Pluto

On February 18, 1930, young astronomer Clyde Tombaugh discovered Pluto while working at the Lowell Observatory. Considered the ninth planet in the solar system for decades, its cultural status remains unshakable, even after its official reclassification as a dwarf planet in 2006.
