D. Carlos I (The Martyred)

D. Carlos I (born September 28, 1863, and died February 1, 1908) was the thirty-third King of Portugal. A respected diplomat abroad and notable oceanographer, his troubled reign culminated tragically in his assassination in the Terreiro do Paço.
