D. António Ferreira Gomes

D. António Ferreira Gomes (b. 1906) was a prominent figure in the Portuguese Catholic Church. As Bishop of Porto, he stood out for his courageous letter sent to Salazar in 1958, where he openly criticized the poverty and lack of freedoms of the regime, which cost him a long exile.
