Creation of the Information Police (Predecessor of PIDE)

On March 17, 1928, Decree No. 15:195 determined the merger of the information police of Lisbon and Porto into a single national body. This new police force, of a markedly secret and political nature, planted the structural seed that would pave the way, years later, for the foundation of the PVDE and the infamous PIDE during the Estado Novo.
