Aretha Franklin (born March 25, 1942, and died August 16, 2018) was a legendary American singer and songwriter. Universally acclaimed as the "Queen of Soul", her transcendent voice and empowerment anthems, such as "Respect", made her an immortal icon of music and civil rights.
