Álvaro Cunhal

Álvaro Cunhal (1913-2005) was the central figure of the Portuguese Communist Party and a historic resister to the Estado Novo regime. An intellectual and politician, his role was decisive in the struggle for democracy and in the political configuration of post-revolutionary Portugal.
