    Karl Adolph Gjellerup

    Karl Adolph Gjellerup, Danish poet and novelist. Winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1917, shared with Henrik Pontoppidan, "for his varied and rich poetry, inspired by high ideals". His works explored religious and philosophical themes, from early atheism to an interest in Buddhism. Among his main works are "The German Apprentice" (1882) and "The Kamanite Pilgrim" (1906). He died in Klotzsche, near Dresden, on October 11, 1919, aged 62.

    Ana Maria Bela dos Santos Simões, Portuguese actress, comedian and screenwriter. Known for her roles in comedy series such as "VIP Manicure" (2008) alongside Maria Rueff, "Humor de Perdição" with Herman José and "Estado de Graça". He began his career in revue theater in 1976 and participated in the Eurovision Song Contest as a chorus singer in "Playback" by Carlos Paião (1981). He is one of the most charismatic figures in Portuguese television comedy.

    Guglielmo Marconi obtains the patent for wireless telegraphy, revolutionizing global communications. This pioneering invention laid the foundation for the development of modern radio and communications, allowing signals to be transmitted over long distances without the need for cables. Marconi's work earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1909.

    Coronation of Elizabeth II

    Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor is crowned Queen of the United Kingdom at Westminster Abbey in London. The ceremony, which took place 16 months after the death of George VI, was the first British coronation broadcast on television, with an audience of around 27 million viewers in the United Kingdom. The coronation marked the beginning of Elizabeth II's long reign, which would last 70 years until her death in 2022.

    1st lung transplant in Portugal

    Lisboa, Portugal

    Carrying out the first lung transplant in Portugal at the Hospital de Santa Marta, in Lisbon, by doctor Henrique Vaz Velho. This milestone in Portuguese medicine initiated a program that would become a global reference, placing Portugal among the countries that perform the most lung transplants in the world. The pioneering program allowed Portuguese patients to no longer have to travel abroad for this surgery.
