D. Miguel I (born October 26, 1802, and died November 14, 1866) was the twenty-ninth King of Portugal. A central figure of absolutism, he usurped the throne from his niece D. Maria II, triggering the violent Portuguese Civil War from which he would emerge defeated and exiled.
